I Know Dino is a podcast run by Garret and Sabrina, two paleo-enthusiasts with a passion for science. They were in need of updates to their imagery for their podcast, and I was happy to provide that solution.

Whats in a dino?

The main direction I was given was that the leading graphic had to be a T. rex. It had to be a visual upgrade, yet still feel reminiscent of their previous graphic. It also had to resemble the most up-to-date depiction as well. This required a lot of research to ensure our Rex looked just as good as it did 66 million years ago. This also includes referencing real T. rex skin impressions for the background pattern and fossilized Eubrontes footprints for the text.

The more the merrier

After the success of the first graphic, Garret and Sabrina approached me again to do a few more projects for them. They have a Patreon-exclusive spinoff podcast called I Know Paleo, a deep dive into the non-dinosaur fauna of of days gone by. This required a new exploration of creatures. Thankfully, with the look of the podcast already established, this process was a lot easier.

The final design came down to two choices: the prehistoric armored fish Dunkleosteus and the abnormal shrimp Anomalocaris. My clients had a hard time deciding, so we put a poll up for the listeners to decide. Surprisingly, it came down to nearly 50/50.

It was as shrimple as that.
